This session will take place in the Textiles Workshop at St Margaret’s Campus on Friday, 29th May 2026, from 12 noon to 5pm.
It is a friendly and relaxed, tutor‑led workshop designed to help you develop your skills and create a final piece that is personal to you.
Join us for an enjoyable afternoon of creativity as we guide you through making your own A3 textiles‑based picture.
An Introduction to health and safety and safe working practices within the workshop.
You will be working with a range of materials, including Bondaweb, tissue paper, dyed newspaper, and various fabrics.
You will also have the chance to experiment with layering, colour, and texture before creating your final piece—no sewing required
Templates will be available to help guide your design, along with plenty of examples to inspire your artwork.
All materials are provided, including an A3 card mount for presenting your finished piece at the end of the session.

This course is designed for beginners and is suitable for learners of all abilities. Learners must be aged 19 or over.
- Annual Tuition fee: £50
This is a full-cost course priced at £50. Please note that concessions are not available for learners on a low income or receiving benefits.
You can only complete this course once and your tutor will advise and discuss the various progression routes available to you. You can also access the college careers team to support your progression and direct you to other courses and we may run other base textiles course in the future.
Apply online through the college website. After submitting your application, you will be contacted or issued a conditional offer based on the course entry requirements. Once your offer is confirmed, you will be invited to enrol on your chosen course.
