This qualification is for learners aged 16-19 who have an interest in following a career within the Plastering industry and want to develop their work-related skills within this area. The Ascentis Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Solid Plastering (Diploma) provides the learner with an excellent introduction to the theory and practical skills needed to work in the Plastering industry. This qualification has been designed in line with the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour set by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) for the Level 2 Plasterer standard. This qualification enables entry to the aligned occupation in Plastering (including providing entry level competence with the requirement for further learning/training in work to reach full occupational competence). This will enable learners to make informed decisions on whether to progress with further training and employment within these areas. If you are aged 16-18, you will be enrolled in a study programme, which will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will also be required to complete a work experience programme and attend a Personal Development session.
Our level 2 technical Diploma in Solid Plastering covers all the main skills and knowledge required to further your learning and progress in this trade. You will study the following mandatory content: Awareness of Domestic Retrofitting Introduction to Plastering Operations Digital Skills and Drawings in Construction Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction Safe Use of Access Equipment Performing Dry Lining Operations Performing Solid Plastering Operations Principles of Customer Service and Communication for the Construction Industry Modern Construction Methods As a practical course, you will learn in an environment with practical assessments, bespoke workshops, and complete theory in the classroom.
Entry to this course requires a GCSE in both English and maths, both of which should be a minimum of grade 3 or above, plus a further two GCSEs at grade 3 or above, one of which must include a science or technical based subject. Students previously studying with us will need to have attained a level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills plus English and maths at grade 3 minimum or the equivalent Functional Skills. All students will undertake a monitoring period for the first six weeks of their programme. During this time, attendance, attitude, attainment, and application toward study will be monitored. A final decision as to the most appropriate level and outcome will be discussed with you towards the end of your first six weeks.
To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following Ascentis assessments: Portfolio of evidence for each theory subject One externally set, externally moderated practical assessment One externally set externally marked On line Health and Safety exam sat under examination conditions.
Students will need to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) plus an identified tool kit. The approximate combined cost of £90. Previous Leicester College students may only require a top-up tool kit at a reduced cost. You will also require stationary. There is a materials fee of £150 for this course.

You will need details of your qualifications and employment history, a reference, and a personal statement to complete your application. Once your application has been successfully processed, you will be sent a conditional offer and be invited to a Welcome Event/Interview at the College to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
