During this one day course you will explore how to provide basic care for people living with dementia, including understanding what dementia is, its common signs, and symptoms and basic strategies of how to support an individual living with dementia.
This is course is designed to provide a basic awareness so would be heedful CPD for people in various public facing roles.
The aim of this short course is to provide an introduction to the concept of dementia and providing person-centred support.
The learning aims of the course are:
- Understanding the most common types of dementia.
- Understanding what the signs and symptoms of common types of dementia are.
- Understanding what good practice looks like when caring for an individual with dementia.
You must have achieved an English qualification at entry level 3 or above. If you have any concerns regarding your literacy level, please contact us on 0116 2242125
You will not be required to pay a fee for this course if you are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit JSA or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance Work Related Action Group)
- Low waged income

On completion of this course, your tutor will be able to provide advice and guidance on other programmes including the NHS swap. The qualification has been designed to provide an awareness of Dementia.
