Abdullah qualified as a doctor in Ukraine but had to leave the country due to the ongoing conflict. Determined to continue his medical career in the UK, he sought opportunities to improve his language skills.  

He started his ESOL classes at Leicester College in November 2022. Abdullah’s commitment to his studies was evident in remarkable progress. He dedicated extensive hours to self-study, completing assignments and engaging in additional distance learning courses. With determination and perseverance, he successfully completed ESOL Level 1 and 2 within a short span of time.  

Abdullah commented on his learning journey:  

“I graduated from Ukraine as a doctor, so I had to learn English to improve my future employability and cultural awareness. My journey with ESOL was a good foundation to start with. I did a lot of intensive courses, and I achieved twelve certificates during eight months. Thank you to my tutors who supported me. And I always remember that “the pain of studying is only temporary, but the pain of not knowing is forever”.
