Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship program the apprentice will gain an L3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship qualification. Apprentices will complete 42 months of vocational training at IST Power Ltd with weekly day release to Leicester college.

Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:30 and Friday, 08:00 -13:00

What will the apprentice be doing?

Our apprentices enjoy abundant opportunities to advance into a variety of roles within the company. Nearly all of our team members began their careers by learning the fundamentals of winding, processing, assembling, and testing transformers. From there, they have grown into positions such as:

  • Coil winders

  • Assembly technicians

  • Fitter

  • Wiring specialists

  • Testers

  • Understand bills of material

  • Use appropriate tools, equipment & materials to perform an engineering task

  • Understand & work to the ISO9001:2015 – Quality processes

  • Own and control quality and engineering documents

  • Complete basic wiring processes

  • Perform soldering and brazing techniques

  • Complete final inspections

Some have also progressed into engineering, materials & supervisory roles.

Your training plan

  • Engineering Fitter Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard

  • Your training will take place at Leicester College Abbey Park Campus, one day per week

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or equivalent)

  • Maths (grade 4 or equivalent)
